2017 Clinical and Translational Research Award in Liver Diseases

Dear Department of Medicine:

I am very pleased to share with you some great news about our own Dr. Robert Wong.

Dr. Wong has been selected to receive a 2017 Clinical and Translational Research Award in Liver Diseases from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Foundation (AASLD Foundation). This prestigious and extremely competitive, two-year, $150,000 award will fund Dr. Wong’s research project entitled Impact of Provider-Centered and Patient-Centered Targeted Educational Interventions to Improve Hepatitis B Virus Management and Hepatocellular Carcinoma Screening Among At-Risk Underserved Populations.

Dr. Wong joined our Division in 2014 after completing both a GI/Hepatology fellowship and a masters program in epidemiology at Stanford. He completed his undergraduate training at UC-Berkeley and he is a graduate of UCSF Medical School and CPMC’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Wong’s research interest is in liver diseases in at-risk populations.

Dr. Wong is quickly becoming a thought leader on the subject of liver diseases in at-risk populations. This award is a testament to the extraordinary clinical research that Dr. Wong performs here. Our Division is so very, very proud of him.

Please join me in congratulating Robert.

Best regards.
Taft
